The President of the Italian Republic warned on PRC influx

Rome [ENA] President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella has warned members of the government of Italy on the dangerous political turnaround that is slowly abandoning the Euro-Atlantic protected anchorage.The Supreme Council of Defense - according to the final communiqué of 03/07-analyzed the possible strategic and military developments in the Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and the European Union and the implications for Italy.

The two organizations, guarantee of peace and stability, remain the constant reference of Italy which must continue to contribute to them in a convinced and effective way . This was a concept strongly reiterated to respond to the growing discontent coming from Washington concerning the commercial agreements between Italy and Beijing , e hich is ready to invest in the harbors of Trieste and Venice and in the IT infrastructure networks : starting from the assignment to the Chinese Huawei and Zte for the 5G .

The Supreme Council of Defense analyzed particularly the aspects concerning the situation in Libya and in the Afghanistan dossier. The criticalities and uncertainties of the international scenario-according to the note of the staff of the President of Italian Republic-require a modern, effective armed forces fully integrated in the European and transatlantic dimension. The Council has deepened the state of the process of reform and modernization of the National Military Organization and has pointed out the continuity, also financial, that must necessarily characterize the modernization programs over long periods of time.

Last but not least, the Council noted that the limited financial resources require to proceed, with speed and determination, in the process of rationalization of the Armed Forces, concentrating resources on the capabilities really necessary for the fulfillment of primary tasks to ensure the security of Italy.
