Rome [ENA] In the heart of Emilia-Romagna, the region with the largest number of certified products, such as the famous Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, Grana Padano PDO, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar (Reggio Emilia PDO and Modena PDO), Prosciutto di Parma PDO and Bologna Mortadella PGI, three days of meetings, market-exhibitions, workshops, and events with more than 40 consortia and producers from the regions where the best Italian

food and wine are born. Friday, August 30th will take place in Bologna the international technical meeting dedicated to certified food products. The meeting will seek to take stock of commercial policies and strategies, innovation, local development, and the sustainability of regulated quality productions in the production territories. Representatives of production consortia, supply chains, and public institutions will take part in the meeting.

On Saturday and Sunday the Italian market of PDO and PGI products will begin, where Consortia and individual producers will offer free tastings and sell certified products to the public. It is a unique opportunity to discover the hundreds of local specialties from over 40 consortia for the protection of certified food products. At FICO factories in Bologna it’s possible to watch live demonstrations of how Grana Padano PDO and Mortadella Bologna PGI are made, while the food park's eating establishments will offer special menus based on PDO and PGI products. At the Arena Theater, the same consortia will tell the public about the crops, livestock, work, and passion of the people who produce these specialties,

the link between the products and their lands of origin, the local traditions, the recipes of the past and those of the future bound to their "Origin Identity." Sweet Bell Pepper of Pontecorvo, which triumphs in central Italian cuisine; Ciauscolo Marchigiano, a fresh, spreadable sausage; Castelluccio di Norcia lentil, very small and fragrant; saffron of Aquila, according to legend brought to the area by Pontius Pilate; and Arroz de Valencia, the Spanish rice used in paella. It will be a symphony of unique flavors, with over 40 PDO and PGI specialties, scheduled for late August at FICO Eataly World in Bologna for Origin Identity. PDO and PGI products from Italy and Europe: an international meeting and three days of market reviews,

tastings, and events on PDO and PGI specialties for all to learn about – and taste – excellent Italian and European foods and wines. The festival will be held from August 30th to September 1st, organized by the world's largest food park together with the Emilia-Romagna Region's Agricultural Department, in collaboration with the FICO Foundation, Origin Italia (the association that brings Italian food consortia together), and the Fondazione Qualivita (committed to the promotion of PDO, PGI, and TSG products since 2002).

Among the delicacies that will transform Bologna into the capital of Italian and European PDO and PGI products for 3 days, you'll find: the Mantova Melon PGI, Lamb from Central Italy and Sardegna PGI, Voghiera Garlic PDO, Bianco Polesano Garlic PDO, Casciotta d'Urbino PDO, Siracusa Lemon PGI, Burrata d'Andria PGI, Trout and Salmerino from Trentino PGI and many other specialties with their own "Origin Identity."
