Tel Aviv [ENA] For over 45 years, the faszination about serial killer David Berkowitz, the Son of Sam has not disappeared. Still many questions have remained unanswered so far: was he the sole perpetrator or was he part of a satanic cult and who were the accomplices?

His supposed victim Carl Denaro has brought amazing things to light: he has now written a book about it and he talked with filmmaker Dr. Uwe Boll about the case. David Berkowitz, born 1953, better known as Son of Sam or .44 Caliber Killer, is an American serial killer who terrorized New York City between July 1976 and July 1977. At the time of his arrest in August 1977, he claimed a demonic dog ordered him to kill. In 1978 he pleaded guilty to six counts of murder and received six life sentences. Later he changed his story: He claimed that he was part of a satanic network and did not carry out the murders alone.

The author and investigative journalist Maury Terry was convinced throughout his life that Berkowitz did not act alone. Also Carl Denaro does not believe in the act of a single perpetrator; only David Berkowitz continues to remain silent about the exact circumstances of the crime, which makes the whole matter incredibly complicated. Denaro was friends with Maury Terry for decades.

In 2021, Carl Denaro published his book, “The Son Of Sam' And Me -The Truth About Why I Wasn't Shot By David Berkowitz“, together with Brian Whitney. Carl Denaro, who was shot in the head at the age of twenty and has lived with a metal plate in his head ever since. He is convinced that Berkowitz was not the sole shooter, rather he believes that other people were involved and he came to astonishing results.

For two hours, filmmaker Dr. Uwe Boll talked with Carl Denaro about the mysterious crime series from the 1970s. The result is a two-part podcast and a three-part video series on youtube. The facts brought to light make you wonder and take notice and reassess the criminal case. The interest in Berkowitz has waned over the decades, but was reignited because of Josh Zeman's documentary, “Sons of Sam - A Descent Into Darkness“.

David Berkowitz, on the other hand, he will be seventy years old this year and is still serving his sentence of over 300 years in a maximum security prison in Upstate New York.
